Some may ask, WHY is self-care so important.
Engaging in a self-care routine has been clinically proven to reduce or eliminate anxiety and depression, reduce stress, improve concentration, minimize frustration and anger, increase happiness, improve energy, and more.
Practicing self-care does not mean you are choosing yourself over your loved one. It means that you are simply being mindful of your own needs, so you are better able to support the people you care about. When you take care of yourself and are not stressed, you are better able to meet the needs of others.
Self-care does not require an elaborate plan; it can be as simple as taking a deep breath when you notice you are becoming stressed. I encourage you to write out a list of activities that bring you joy to refer to when you need some time for yourself.
